Are You Looking for the Best Fare - or the Best Journey ? or Both ?

Search by Place or Airport

Most flight searches start with two airports.

You choose where you want to fly from, choose where you want to fly to, and the search begins.

That works well if you already know the airports.

But what if you don't?

Imagine you live in Birmingham and want to travel to Debrecen.

Before you can compare fares, you first need to answer a different question:

Which airports should I search?

Should you fly from Birmingham? Manchester? Luton?

Should you fly to Debrecen itself? Budapest? Somewhere else that gives you a better journey?

Once you know which airports make sense, comparing fares is much easier.

But finding those airports is part of the search too.

That is where ALLFLYGHTS starts.

Search an airport when you already know the airport

Sometimes you already know exactly which airport you want.

Imagine you want to use Frankfurt Airport (FRA).

Select:

✈️ Frankfurt (FRA)

and FRA stays fixed.

Simple.

But perhaps you don't care which airport you use. You simply want to travel to Frankfurt am Main.

Then select:

📍 Frankfurt am Main

Now you are asking a different question:

I want to reach this place. Which airports could give me a useful journey there?

Frankfurt is still where you want to go.

The airport is simply part of how you get there.

And ALLFLYGHTS is not just looking for the airport nearest to Frankfurt.

Why?

Because the nearest airport does not always give you the best journey.

A slightly farther airport might have a direct flight. Another might need fewer stops. Another may eventually give you a better fare.

So the real question is not:

Which airport is closest?

It is:

Which airport makes sense for this journey?

See how it works

You can choose separately at both ends

You might want ALLFLYGHTS to work out the airports at both ends of your journey.

Or you may already know one of them.

So there are four simple possibilities:

  • Place → Place — explore relevant airports at both ends.
  • Place → Airport — explore the departure airports, but keep the arrival airport fixed.
  • Airport → Place — keep the departure airport fixed, but explore the arrival airports.
  • Airport → Airport — use exactly the two airports you selected.

Imagine you want to travel from London to Dhaka.

If you select Dhaka as a place, you are saying:

I want to reach Dhaka. Work out which airport possibilities make sense.

If you select Dhaka Airport (DAC), you are saying:

I specifically want to arrive at DAC.

You still want to go to Dhaka.

But you are asking the search engine a different question.

Sometimes the useful airport is in another country

Now imagine you want to travel to Győr in Hungary.

Budapest is an obvious airport to consider.

But Vienna is in Austria and Bratislava is in Slovakia.

Both may also be useful ways to reach Győr.

So why should a flight search automatically stop at the Hungarian border?

The important thing is simple:

Győr is where you want to go. The airport is one part of how you get there.

If Vienna gives you a much simpler flight and you are happy to travel from Vienna to Győr, it makes sense to see that option.

ALLFLYGHTS can therefore consider relevant airports across borders.

It also shows you how far each airport is from the place you actually selected.

You don't need to research Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava and all the possible flight combinations yourself before you can even start comparing journeys.

That research is part of the search.

See how cross-border search works

But sometimes the border matters

Sometimes using an airport in another country is perfectly fine.

Sometimes it isn't.

You may have visa requirements.

You may need to return a rental car.

The ground journey may be inconvenient.

Or you may simply prefer to stay within one country.

That is why ALLFLYGHTS has Same arrival country and Same departure country controls.

If you search for Győr and select Same arrival country, ALLFLYGHTS only considers arrival airports in Hungary.

If Győr is your starting place and you select Same departure country, it only considers departure airports in Hungary.

So letting ALLFLYGHTS work out the airports does not mean losing control.

You decide the limits.

Best fare or best journey?

If you already know exactly which airports you want to use, the question can be simple:

What flights and fares are available between these airports?

But sometimes your real question is different:

I am here. I want to go there. What is a good way to make that journey?

Before comparing fares, somebody needs to work out which airports are worth comparing.

You can do that research yourself.

Or you can give ALLFLYGHTS the places and let the search do that work too.

You know where your journey starts and where you want to go.

You decide what must stay fixed.

ALLFLYGHTS works out the airport possibilities.
